VideoGamer.com Launches Internet Show

Hertfordshire, England, May 21 2008: VideoGamer.com is delighted to announce the debut episode of its internet show, which features video game reviews and previews uniquely blended in with predominantly British comedy sketches and irreverent humour. The first episode features a review of Grand Theft Auto, Iron Man, Mario Kart and Euro 2008, alongside previews of Haze and Metal Gear Online.

The show is written by the whole team and presented, directed and produced by Nick Peres and Simon Hunter, who joined the company last year. It is now available to stream on the VideoGamer.com player and will be offered as a High Definition download with iTunes integration later on this month.

“The difficulty of coming up with a unique concept for a video games show that ticks all the right boxes cannot be underestimated, especially when taking into account the comparatively small size of our video team,” said Nick Peres. “As such, it’s fantastic that we’ve been able to produce a show that’s unconventional and entertaining whilst being genuinely informative to gamers. The potential for the show is spectacular and I’m really looking forward to producing the rest of the series.”

BLOCKDOT LAUNCHES GAME FOR RAMBO DVD RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 21, 2008 (Dallas, TX) – Dallas-based Blockdot has launched “Rambo: The Fight Continues,” a heart-pounding first-person shooter game promoting the May 27 DVD release of Rambo, the fourth film in Sylvester Stallone’s legendary action-packed series. “Rambo: The Fight Continues” has already generated a buzz with movie fans and gamers, racking up half a million game plays in its first week.

In the game, players assume the role of lone warrior John Rambo, now living in a remote jungle in Southeast Asia. His solitary, simple life is shattered when he accepts a dangerous new mission: protect innocent villagers from a band of bloodthirsty soldiers. With a fifty-cal machine gun, an unlimited supply of ammo, and a take-no-prisoners attitude, Rambo must fight off waves of attackers sneaking up from forward and side positions!

Use your left and right arrow keys to control the direction of Rambo’s fifty-cal. Aim the crosshairs at the approaching mercenaries with your mouse — then click to shoot. Blast enough mercenaries in a firefight and you’ll move on to the next round…but take too many hits and your health meter will be completely drained, bringing Rambo’s mission – and the game – to an end!

‘ASTERIX AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES’ COMING TO XBOX 360TM

Coming Summer 2008, New Fifth Platform for Video Game of the Film Boasts HD Graphics, Featuring Unique Blend of Live Action, CGI and Gameplay Animation

LYON, FRANCE – 21 May 2008
– Atari today announced details of the forthcoming video game Asterix at the Olympic Games for Xbox 360™. Scheduled for release this summer, Asterix at the Olympic Games revolutionises the world of Asterix by bringing it to a next-generation console for the very first time with impressively detailed and vibrant High Definition graphics and multiplayer action. The game of the highly successful feature film of the same name, Asterix at the Olympic Games blends live action elements from the film with high quality computer generated and video game animation to deliver fans an extraordinary and unique Asterix experience in HD. The game is currently available on PlayStation®2, Nintendo DS™, Wii and PC, with the Xbox 360 version scheduled for release this summer 2008.

Developed by Etranges Libellules in close collaboration with Asterix licensor Les Editions Albert René and film production company La Petite Reine, the game follows Asterix, Obelix and their devoted druid Getafix as they travel to Olympia to help their love-sick friend Lovestorix win the heart of the Grecian Princess Irina and stop mighty Brutus from destroying the world. Success at the games is the only guarantee of putting an end to Brutus’ evil ways. This original story takes a parallel course to the film and comic book series, and the new multiplayer feature allows friends to enjoy our Gallic heroes’ hilarious, action-packed road to victory together.

In Asterix at the Olympic Games, players can choose from two playable characters, Asterix and Obelix, and switch between them throughout a series of escapades, including physical challenges and brainy problem-solving. The “adventure mode” plays out the love story involving Brutus, Lovestorix and the Grecian Princess Irina, whilst the “antique mode” offers players the chance to compete in over ten disciplines as 12 playable characters, notably a host of our friends from Gaul and athletes from countries of olden times. The more sardonic player could even choose to play as Brutus. There is of course a hearty dose of Roman bashing too. Tutorial videos and excerpts from the feature film appear throughout the game to bring the world of Asterix to life.

Over 14.6 million people across Europe have seen the feature film Asterix at the Olympic Games at the cinema, a success which has been shared with the versions of the game already launched. The advanced and enhanced Xbox 360 version of Asterix at the Olympic Games will be released in the same period as the feature film’s DVD launch to make sure fans can enjoy the full Asterix experience.

The DVD of the live action feature film is scheduled for release across Europe this summer. Asterix at the Olympic Games for PlayStation®2, Nintendo DS™, Wii and PC is available in stores now with the Xbox 360 game scheduled for release across Europe this coming summer.

POSTAL finally makes it to the big screen this weekend (on your favorite journalist’s birthday no less!)

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008
“POSTAL” Set to Assault the Big Screen

Film Version of Video Game Opens May 23rd

Tucson, AZ: Before Uwe Boll’s video game-to-film conversion of Running With Scissors’ “Postal” franchise even opens in theaters across North America on May 23rd, it will have already attained certifiable cult status. Originally scorned by gamers as another in a string of Boll’s critically pummeled game-based movies, something unexpected occurred during the film’s editing cycle. The film’s outrageous 9-11-based opening sequence was released and it went viral. By the time the film opens in theaters, that clip will have been viewed by well over two million sets of eyes via YouTube.

“Outrageous! Unblievable! Insane!” were the uncharacteristically subdued reactions of RWS ringleader Vince Desi (who plays himself in the film) when asked to describe his emotions on the dawn of the film’s long-awaited theatrical debut in major North American cities, including Los Angeles, New York, Austin, Denver, Tucson, Culver City, Charleston (SC), Decatur and Riverdale (GA), San Francisco, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. “I’m so freakin’ proud and thankful to all our fans around the world that have helped make POSTAL an international success story. We now join the ranks of Lara Croft, Doom and Mortal Kombat as a video game brand that has made the transition to a major motion picture. Long live the POSTAL franchise!”

In addition to its pre-credit sequence, earlier cuts of the entire film were previewed to totally unexpected rave reviews in cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and RWS’ home town of Tucson. From TV station/game site G4 to Michael J. Hein, the Director of the New York City Horror Film Festival (who called “Postal” “the funniest film of the year… hands down!”), audiences from Tribeca to Tucson have loved the movie—even POSTAL’s notoriously cranky creators.

From full frontal by famous funnyman Dave Foley to some of the most ribald, politically-wrong satire ever committed to film, director Boll’s heavy hand works perfectly in this mega-spoof that skewers everything and everyone, including Boll himself.
For more information on the upcoming POSTAL Movie, Postal games and gear, as well as updates on the development of POSTAL III visit our new expanded site www.gopostal.com and be sure to visit PostalNation.net for in-depth coverage of the RWS scene.
