Mario Puzo’s estate sues over Godfather game

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

from http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/06/puzo-estate-sue.html

The estate of late author Mario Puzo is filing suit against Paramount Pictures, claiming that the group owes Puzo’s estate more than $1 million in revenue from the sale of games based on Puzo’s book-turned-film-turned game The Godfather.

Key to the estate’s argument is the idea that Paramount broke a contract stipulation set in 1992 giving them audio-visual rights to the Godfather franchise and related works.

While Puzo’s son Anthony claims the agreement includes the Godfather games, Paramount disagrees and refuses to pay.
