XBOX 360 MONSTER MAKEOVER WEB SERIES LAUNCHES

Imagine your Xbox 360 falling in love with your horror movie collection and running off to have a family.  The product of that love is our new web reality series “Monster Makeover”.

Launching on October 23rd, Monster Makeover is the show where Hollywood models get turned  into monsters and tough guys based on video games. Shot on location at the Cinema Make-up School in Los Angeles, Monster Makeover takes you behind the scenes with the makeup artists who create the creatures you love. Each episode gives contestants a limited time to transform a lovely model into a gruesome ghoul. We’ll judge which make-up artists create the best effects and then send the losers packing. The last competitor standing will win a job on a film or TV project with Spectral Motion, the studio behind Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

Our list of expert judges includes industry legends like Leonard Engelman, makeup artist on How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Lee Joyner, makeup artist on Stargate SG-1 and Mimic, Michael Key, editor of Makeup Artist Magazine and Mike Elizalde, owner of the studio behind Hellboy II: The Golden Army and XMen: The Last Stand.

Viewers of Monster Makeover will be able to register for a chance to win a prize package consisting of an Xbox 360 Elite console, a 4GB Zune, and Five Xbox 360 video games.  Viewers will be able to enter multiple times during the promotion, once after every episode, airing on Mondays and Thursdays from now through November 20th.

Some of the best horror and sci fi experiences of the year will be in video game form on the Xbox 360.  Monster Makeover will feature effects from fall blockbusters like Gears of War 2, Fable II, Dead Space, Fallout 3, and Left 4 Dead.  Check out new episodes at www.xbox.com/monstermakeover.

Today, Microsoft lifts the curtain on “Last Day,” a 60 second ad spot for the highly anticipated Xbox 360 exclusive, “Gears of War 2.” The ad will premier today on Yahoo! Games online, followed by a roll out on movie and TV screens worldwide. The spot shows the last precious moments that Marcus Fenix and other members of the intrepid Delta Squad spend above ground as they prepare for the most important battle of their lives – the battle for humanity’s very survival.

The “Last Day” ad will air in 15 countries. A selection of programming includes:

“Last Day” features the hauntingly beautiful music track, “How it Ends,” by indie rock band DeVotchKa, which can be found on Zune Marketplace. The ad spot was created entirely within Unreal Engine 3, the same graphics engine technology used in the “Gears of War” franchise.

Microsoft and Epic Games partnered with ad agency T.A.G SF, special effects house Digital Domain and director Joseph Kosinski, the same collaborative team that created the award-winning “Mad World” (2006) television commercial for the original “Gears of War” campaign.

The battle begins Nov. 7.

The Voice of Live issues poll results

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

The state of the economy is top of mind and dominating media headlines as we count down to this year’s historic presidential elections; but one group of active, civically-minded citizens is looking beyond today’s news and has the environment and foreign policy near the forefront of issues that matter most to them.

Recently, Xbox LIVE members were invited to state their opinions on the importance of topics ranging from the economy to education. A third of those participating selected jobs and the economy as their top issue they want the next president to address. The other two-thirds of participants showed the wide-ranging nature of the current political debate, as they were nearly equally divided between the environment, foreign policy, heath care and education.

35%        Jobs and the Economy

19%        Environment

18%        Foreign Policy

14%        Health Care

14%        Education

The second-ever poll over Xbox LIVE is in conjunction with a historic partnership between Xbox 360, Rock the Vote and The Presidents of the United States of America. Through its voter registration drive, more than 80,000 voter registration forms were downloaded through Xbox.com, with more than a half-million pieces of digital content, ranging from candidates’ speeches to gamerpics* also downloaded.

Now on Xbox LIVE, members can enjoy an exclusive video for the single Ladybug from The Presidents of the United States of America’s new album, “These are the Good Times People.” Also available now: new elections ’08 gamerpics and themes, along with the chance to win a Gibson guitar signed by the band.

Starting Nov. 4, three songs from the Presidents of the USA, Dune Buggy, Ladybug and Feather Pluckn will be available for purchase for play on the best-selling music video game, Rock Band 2, from MTV Games and Harmonix.
