The Red Star for PSPgo released today

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

XS Games today announced the availability of The Red Star for the PSP go exclusively on the PlayStation Network. The game, originally released in 2007 on PlayStation 2, is based on the sci-fi/fantasy graphic novel of the same name by Christian Gossett. Featuring fully polished and improved controls, The Red Star skillfully blends together side-scrolling fast paced retro beat ‘em up gameplay with the blasting power of top-down action packed shooters.

The Red Star takes place in the mystical, technically advanced United Republics of the Red Star (URRS), an alternate reality universe loosely resembling Soviet Russia. Once deemed a powerful empire, the URRS quickly transforms into a dystopia thanks to the slaughtering of millions of its own people under the orders of their leader, Imbohl, a corrupt sorcerer revered as the leader of the Great Revolution. Haunted by their nation’s tragic past, the Heroes of the Red Star quickly discover their true calling, abandon their duties as soldiers of the Red Fleet, and embark upon a life changing journey to liberate their people from Imbohl’s sadistic and dark ruling.

Players can choose to play as either Maya Antares, a powerful Warkaster (sorcerer and human energy cannon) in search of her husband lost in battle, Kyuzo, Maya’s personal bodyguard and deadliest of all guardsman, or Makita, a quick and agile Nokgorkan rebel orphan.

The Red Star can currently be purchased on the PlayStation Network at the price of $14.99. Keep a lookout for the iPhone version coming out later this year.

New Screenshots And Game Trailer Show Off The Fist-Flying Moves Of Kick-Ass, Hit Girl And Big Daddy

WHA Entertainment today released the first gameplay trailer for Kick-Ass, launching world-wide for the PSN for PS3 and Apple iPhone April 15th. WHA Entertainment also unveiled some new screenshots of Kick-Ass, the superhero action game based on the upcoming theatrical movie by the same name. Players will be put to the test as they take on the role of any 1 of 3 super heroes based on the super characters featured in the movie.

“We are excited to show off some of the gameplay that players will find in Kick-Ass through these new assets,” said Howard Horowitz, Founder and CEO of WHA Entertainment, Inc. “Kick-Ass promises to deliver non-stop superhero action to gamers, and we can’t wait for players to be able to get their hands on the game next month!”

Kick-Ass is a fully 3D action fighting game set in the third-person perspective, where the player can play and control modern day super heroes based on the super characters found in the film of the same name. Gamers will be able to play as the three primary characters in the film – Kick-Ass, Hit Girl, and Big Daddy. The story-driven game draws heavily from the strengths of the intellectual property; an action combat game where the characters finally grow sick of the crime around them, and decide that they will do something about it.

Featuring multiple environments within New York City, players will be faced with eight story missions and encounter frantic super hero action as they face petty thugs and powerful mob bosses. Players will also have a blast with sub-missions and mini-games, to add even more gameplay to the mix. Staying true to the intellectual property, the game will feature visceral combat and plenty of gore, as the player’s main goal is to bring justice back to the city, no matter what the cost!

Featuring multiplayer local co-op gameplay, the Kick-Ass missions are given via friend requests from the FACESPACE social networking site.
