Konami announces Gormiti: The Lords of Nature!

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Popular European Toy and TV Franchise is Konami’s Latest Adaptation Coming to Nintendo Wii and DS Systems in 2010

Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today announced Gormiti: The Lords of Nature!, a new action puzzle game for the Nintendo Wii™ and DS™ systems. Created and first launched by Giochi Preziosi in 2005 as an action figure product line, the highly successful Gormiti toy brand and TV franchise will be expanding to interactive entertainment systems later this year.

Gormiti: The Lords of Nature! features characters and locations from the popular Gormiti TV show, now airing on Cartoon Network, co-produced by Marathon Media & Giochi Preziosi. The action starts as a character named Razzle, while cleaning the library, accidentally knocks some old books into a Portal. These books tumble down to the ‘Island of Gorm’ where a never ending battle is going on between vast armies inspired by the elemental forces of nature. The books eventually land at the feet of Magmion, the evil Lava Gormiti. Magmion reads the book and learns of an old legend which talks about reuniting five sacred amulets which have been scattered across Gorm. Once reunited these amulets allow the holder to open an inter-dimensional portal to Earth! The Lords of Nature need to use all their unique powers to hinder Magmion’s plans and save Earth. The game recreates the beautifully illustrated island of Gorm, where the Lords of Earth, Sea, Air and Forest are charged with stopping the evil Magmion from wreaking havoc.

“The Gormiti license has grown tremendously since created in 2005 and we are excited at the opportunity to deliver the first interactive gaming experience for fans of the franchise,” said Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. “The development team is looking forward to adapting the Gormiti storyline into a rich and entertaining video game that will allow players the ability to interact with their favorite characters in a new way.”

Gormiti: The Lords of Nature! will feature a story and arcade modes that both versions share, with the Wii version allowing two players to play together co-operatively. Both the Wii and DS titles feature a wealth of key landmarks from the television series, as players directly control three of the Lords of Nature within a group. Using the individual skills of each Lord, players battle Magmion’s minions using melee ‘Super’ attacks, or powerful long-ranged moves, and can switch between their various skills with ease. Gameplay is enhanced featuring jigsaw and sliding tile puzzle games, wherein tiles or jigsaw pieces relating to each of the main characters must be collected and assembled. When completed, the image then reveals an interactive 3D interactive character. All FMV sequences in Gormiti: The Lords of Nature! are voiced by actors from the cartoon show, and once unlocked, a full 40 minutes of action can be watched together.

Epic Games and EA unleash the Bulletstorm

People Can Fly Delivers a Blood Symphony of Gunplay and Carnage

Epic Games, People Can Fly and Electronic Arts Inc. today confirmed the development of Bulletstorm, a new original intellectual property from the teams behind the award-winning, multiple million-selling Gears of War, Unreal Tournament and Painkiller series of games. Set to release in 2011, Bulletstorm brings new furor to first-person shooter action with its signature ‘kill with skill’ gameplay, which is packed with blockbuster moments.

“Bulletstorm is the kind of game we love to make because it’s pure, unadulterated entertainment,” said Epic Games President Dr. Michael Capps. “People Can Fly has created a wildly fun first-person shooter that looks gorgeous running on the latest Unreal Engine 3 technology, and the skillshot system is a welcome addition to the genre. We can’t wait to see how everyone reacts to seeing Bulletstorm.”

Bulletstorm tells the story of a futuristic confederation protected by an elite band of mercenaries: Dead Echo. When Dead Echo members Grayson Hunt and Ishi Sato learn they’ve been working for the wrong side, they’re betrayed by their commander and exiled to the far reaches of the galaxy. In Bulletstorm, Grayson and Ishi find themselves surrounded by hordes of mutants and flesh eating gangs in an abandoned paradise. They have two objectives: get off the planet alive, and exact revenge on the man who sent them there.

Players step into the role of Grayson Hunt complete with an arsenal of over-the-top combat moves and outrageously large guns. Bulletstorm’s array of distinct ‘skillshots’ produces unprecedented levels of frantic gameplay and yell-inducing satisfaction. The skillshot system rewards players for inciting mayhem in the most creative way possible. The more insane the skillshot, the more points players collect to upgrade their character and unlock weapons, which then allows them to execute even more creative moves and exaggerated skillshots.

“We’re very excited to work with Epic Games and People Can Fly on this new project. The first time we laid eyes on Bulletstorm, we instantly knew this is going to be the next big hit from these two great studios delivering yet again an entirely new experience for shooter fans,” said Senior Vice President and General Manager of EA Partners, David DeMartini.

Poised to be one of next year’s most anticipated original games, Bulletstorm will be available for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and PC. For more information on Bulletstorm, please visit www.facebook.com/bulletstorm or follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/bulletstorm.

Price Point for Apple Versions Announced For The Game Based On The Blockbuster Upcoming Motion Picture

WHA Entertainment, a publisher and developer of entertainment games based on leading IP Franchises, announced today that it has released a batch of new screenshots for Kick-Ass, the upcoming worldwide game release for the Apple Platforms, iPhone, iTouch, iPad, launching April 17th. Additionally, WHA Entertainment confirmed that the MSRP for all Apple Platforms of the superhero action game will be $2.99.

“We are excited to provide players a closer look at the gameplay and characters involved in Kick-Ass,” said Howard Horowitz, Founder and CEO of WHA Entertainment, Inc. “Kick-Ass is set to deliver non-stop superhero action to gamers, and what could be more fun than getting to play as one of the three super heroes based on the super characters featured in the movie?”

Kick-Ass is a fully 3D action fighting game set in the third-person perspective, where the player can play and control modern day super heroes based on the super characters found in the film of the same name. Gamers will be able to play as the three primary characters in the film – Kick-Ass, Hit Girl, and Big Daddy. The story-driven game draws heavily from the strengths of the intellectual property; an action combat game where the characters finally grow sick of the crime around them, and decide that they will do something about it.

Featuring multiple environments within New York City, players will be faced with twelve story missions plus 2 bonus rounds and encounter frantic super hero action as they face petty thugs and powerful mob bosses. Players will also have a blast with sub-missions and mini-games, to add even more gameplay to the mix. Staying true to the intellectual property, the game will feature visceral combat and plenty of gore, as the player’s main goal is to bring justice back to the city, no matter what the cost!
