Remedy Taking Community Involvement to a New Level by Integrating Social Media Liilak into Ongoing Death Rally Development

Remedy’s top down racer Death Rally hit the App Store in late March to both critical acclaim and a passionate, vocal online community. The Max Payne and Alan Wake developers, in co-operation with Minigore developers Mountain Sheep, have delivered on their goal of delivering a constant stream of updates in the form of new tracks, cars, weapons and challenges. The bar had been set high, but Remedy is taking it one step further by allowing the community to choose what will come in future updates.

Remedy is proud to be one of the first developers to closely involve their community in shaping the future of their iOS game. To achieve this Remedy has joined forces with Finland-based social media company, Liilak, to create community development challenges; thus establishing a close link between fans and developers in order to bring new content to Death Rally.

“After closely watching players’ interaction with the game and listening to the community’s discussions, it’s clear that our fans have great ideas on how to improve Death Rally,” said Peter Papadopoulos, Community Manager at Remedy Entertainment. “Now we have an organised way to directly include them in the development process. Liilak allows us to give the fans the power to bring their wildest ideas into the game they’re playing every day.”

As of today, Remedy will be incorporating Liilak into the game’s official Facebook page (www.facebook.com/deathrally), kickstarting the first of many community-focused idea challenges. The first challenge will last two weeks where the community will be able to submit their ideas on the type of car they would like to see added into the game. The idea with the best rating will end up in the game and the originator of the idea will win a brand new iPad 2.

“We’re really excited to see what type of cool cars our fans can come up with, not to mention the ability to extend the idea further down the line with the design of new weapons and tracks as well – the sky’s the limit!” Aki Järvilehto, EVP at Remedy added.
