GAME WITH FAME presents: Play Halo 3 with Asher Roth

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

ilmasherrothAlbum

The unique rapper who turned his MySpace page into a successful recording contract will play Halo 3 with Xbox LIVE Gold Members June 24. If you’re an Xbox LIVE Gold Member (if not, upgrade now!), and you want a chance to play with Asher Roth, send a friend request to the following Gamertag and be online half an hour before (5:30 P.M. ET) the Game with Fame session starts on Monday, June 22, 6:00 P.M. ET. If you get a chance to play with Asher Roth, we want to hear about it! Send us an e-mail (xlmail@microsoft.com) with the subject: “GWF – Asher Roth.” Be sure to include your Gamertag and home town.

He doesn’t come from the mean streets of the tough city, his roots are in suburbia. But he has impressed rap legends like 50 Cent and Ludacris with his brash and fun style. “[Rap] is for everybody. I couldn’t rap about the drugs that I had or the guns that I sold, but I could rap about how much fun I was having hanging out with my friends. That’s the stuff that felt right to me,” he says. A friend sent a few of his tracks on his MySpace page to former So So Def marketing director Scooter Braun, and he was soon signed to a label. His debut album, Asleep in the Bread Aisle, contains the hit single “I Love College,” and has led to him putting on a series of live sold-out shows where the fun really begins. “My vision is to put on the dopest live show possible,” says Roth. “Let’s make it like Woodstock.”

If you want a sampling of the sound of Asher Roth, we have two music videos available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace:

Vin Diesel’s Wheelman video game soundtrack features the music of Composers Jorge and Guillermo Badolato

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

An unusual PR request, it’s not the first game-music-related piece I’ve received. It’s always cool to find out about the artist(s) and teams that do the music that drives any game. Check em out, you might be surprised where else their work has popped up.

Composers Jorge & Guillermo Badolato (www.badolatomusic.com) are glad to announce they worked in the composition and production of the soundtrack for next-gen videogame Wheelman, developed by Newcastle´s Midway Studios & Tigon Studios (Vin Diesel´s video game company, who also starres the game). The game has been published worldwide by Ubisoft and Midway.
Jorge & Guillermo Badolato created half of the multi-layered interactive in-game soundtrack, the music for most of the cutscenes of the game and also did part of the music for promotion trailers for Wheelman.

The game has a hi-energy & frenetic action score featuring a mixture of actual Hollywood´s cinematic car chase films, blending powerful orchestral textures, techno-electronica, percussion and spanish/flamenco & electric guitars (recorded live by Guillermo Badolato).

“It’s been a honnor for us to work with Midway on this title, there has been an excellent understanding with Craig Beattie (Wheelman´s Audio Director) right from the start. Working on a game such amazing as this one is a blast!” Said Jorge & Guillermo.

Craig Beattie, Wheelman Audio Director/Midway UK: “Working with Badolatomusic was a complete joy. They delivered 50% of the in-game musical scores for Wheelman and most of the cutscene music. There music fitted perfectly with the tense missions and atmosphere of the game. When things got tight and changes to cutscenes where needed they re-scored the music to fit, they delivered time and time again without one complaint. I highly recommend these guys as professional and accomplished musicians”.

Wheelman it´s available for the Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3 and PC from March 24, 2009, in North America and March 27, 2009, in Europe. For more information on Wheelman, please visit http://www.wheelmangame.com Other tracks from the game were composed by Rod Abernethy.

Plus, rising indie rockers Silversun Pickups make their way into the Wii Rock Band store with “Melatonin” and “Well Thought Out Twinkles” from Carnavas (2006).

This week’s content update also includes two tracks from Duran Duran: “Girls on Film” and “Rio.” “Girls on Film” was the band’s breakthrough single and the biggest hit from their 1981 self-titled debut album, while “Rio” was the fourth single from Rio (1982) and featured one of the most well known music videos from the 1980s.

Six additional singles from a variety of rock artists round out this week’s music store offering with “Rescue Me” from Buckcherry’s album Black Butterfly (2008), Mötley Crüe’s “Face Down in the Dirt” from Saints of Los Angeles (2008), “Life is Beautiful” from Sixx:A.M.’s album The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack (2007), “Pretty in Pink” from Psychedelic Furs’ Talk Talk Talk (1981), Pretenders’ hit “Brass in Pocket” from the band’s self-titled 1980 album and “Get Your Rock On” by The Janitors featured on the American Mall soundtrack (2008).

The tracks from Social Distortion, Steely Dan, Disturbed, Elvis Costello and The Replacements will be released simultaneously with the weekly content update for other consoles. The remainder of the tracks comes from the back catalogue of Rock Band music already released to owners of Xbox 360 and PS3. Wii fans can expect a rollout of previously released downloadable Rock Band content until the entire back catalogue of more than 670 songs is available.
