Yes, that’s right. ANOTHER multiplayer arcade game with sword-wielding suicidal ninja robots!

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Following their recent announcement (well, over a year ago), Beatnik Games, a far-too-cool independent game development studio, are happy to let everyone know that their caffeine-fueled, dream-inspired debut game Plain Sight hasn’t been canned and is in fact set to be unleashed onto an unsuspecting world on March 22nd via Steam and other digital download platforms at the ridiculously low price of $9.99.

For anyone whose memory doesn’t stretch back to the beginning of 2009 (it was last decade after all), Plain Sight is a multiplayer arcade game set across 13 space-themed mapsand features a unique twist on the standard Deathmatch mechanic. Playing as your average ninja robot about town, you begin each game with a sword and a quantum of energy. Leaping across each level leaving a bright trail in your wake, you must destroy other ninja robots to steal their energy. As you get more energy you change color and get bigger, stronger and brighter. This is where the catch comes in! You only get to convert your hard earned energy into game-winning points if you blow yourself up. The more opponents you take out in the explosion, the higher the multiplier, the higher the score!

Respawn and repeat!!

Mezmer Games Announces Stalin vs Martians Release Date

Not-So-Epic RTS Game to Reach Digital Shelves on April 29th

Mezmer Games today confirmed the official release date for the upcoming arcade-RTS game Stalin vs Martians, in which you fight as the Soviet Union’s Red Army to defeat the Alien invasion of 1942. The battle begins on April 29, 2009. The game is a joint development of BWF, Dreamlore Studios and N-Game Studios.

Stalin vs. Martians, as the name suggests, is a game both masterfully trashy and absolutely over-the-top. Fun and accessible, it takes a simple arcade-like approach to the genre of real-time strategy. The player controls the Red Army, as it defends Earth from the Martian Invasion of 1942, a highly classified military operation which even today remains a closely guarded state secret. Stalin himself conducts the mission briefings and later even becomes a playable unit.

“The game is ready for deployment,” said Tom Söderlund, Executive Producer at Mezmer Games. “Fans of historically inaccurate World War II games everywhere will rejoice.”

Stalin vs Martians will be available on all leading digital distribution portals including GamersGate, Direct2Drive, Steam and Impulse.

X³: Terran Conflict 2.0 – The Aldrin Missions Coming Soon to US Retailers

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

EGOSOFT’s X³: Terran Conflict 2.0 available April 7, 2009

Egosoft announced today that the latest version of its critically acclaimed title, X³: Terran Conflict, will be available at all major US retail outlets beginning April 7, 2009.

X³: Terran Conflict 2.0 – The Aldrin Missions will feature a host of new missions, new ships and much more – and will be available at all major US retail outlets and on Steam, a leading platform for the delivery and management of PC games and digital content with over 15 million accounts around the world. The release at retail and on Steam will be simultaneous.

Entitled X³: Terran Conflict 2.0 – The Aldrin Missions, this updated version of X³: Terran Conflict is being published by IGS Interactive and will feature a host of new missions, new ships and much more.

“We couldn’t be more excited to get X³: Terran Conflict 2.0 – The Aldrin Missions into our customers’ hands,” said Bernd Lehahn, managing director of EGOSOFT. “With this new version, we will build on the fantastic critical response to X³: Terran Conflict and will deliver a truly memorable experience to the gamer.”

As with the previous titles in the X series, X³: Terran Conflict 2.0 – The Aldrin Missions is a single-player space simulation featuring fast-paced first-person space combat, free-form open exploration of a huge dynamic universe, and large-scale management of the player’s own intergalactic corporation.

In X³: Terran Conflict (the predecessor to 2.0), the long-lost Terran colony of Aldrin was rediscovered. Now, after numerous years of isolation, the Terrans are keen to bring the Aldrans back into the fold as part of their massive effort to colonize areas of space thought lost or inaccessible. No colonization is easy, however, and you will be asked to not only help in the shaping of the new frontier, but will also be called upon to provide protection for the colonization effort against forces determined to oppose the Aldrin Expansion. New Terran stations and complexes, a new Terran ship and a host of other new features are introduced as you play a decisive role in the shaping of this new Terran frontier.

“We are honored to be publishing the latest installment in such a proven franchise,” said Paul Lombardi, CEO of IGS Inc. “The Aldrin Missions is a more than worthy successor to the outstanding Terran Conflict, and this version will further solidify EGOSOFT’s already stellar X franchise as one of the best in gaming.”

X³: Terran Conflict was released in European retail outlets and on Steam on October 17, 2008. The reviews have been overwhelmingly positive and X³: Terran Conflict currently boasts a 78.2% ranking on Game Rankings. IGN, the largest and most influential videogame site in the world, said that “Clearly crafted by a design team on a mission and with a vision, X3: Terran Conflict is a pretty and impressively ambitious voyage into the heavens that should satiate the thirst of anyone who pines for life away from earthly confines.”
